The Veddhas (also spelled Vedda or Wanniyala-Aetto) are the original forest-dwelling people of Sri Lanka, believed to be descendants of the island’s prehistoric inhabitants. Traditionally hunter-gatherers, their culture is deeply connected to the forest, wildlife, and spiritual rituals.
